Greetings Universe.
So I just rewrote the entire code again, for the 15th time.
Because sometimes it is just easier to rewrite the entire thing when you discover a better way, rather than fixing the old one.
So right now it is still not quite finished, but this is what I've got so far.
This time I added the creation of all my controllers, all the pistons and the Stewart platform. [i.e. a bunch of pistons with universal joints on them].
That means all I need for the rig to work is just a scene with the model in it
(well as long as the naming conventions are correct, and yes Isak I am talk to you now).
Now I am working on cleaning it up and adding more limitations and such, at least I remembered to force the viewport to refresh so you guys can see the different steps while the script is being executed this time around.
I do believe I am making good progress, especially since the only mel I knew last semester were these two commands, and yes I am being serious, I only knew these two commands:
joint;
And then the
parent -s -r;
And that was still me manually selecting things and then typing that into the mel line.
So now hopefully the script doesn't bug out on me again so I can be done with the skinning progress, rigging the gun and arm for you next week and maybe start on the fish.
If everything goes according to plan.
-B
P.s. Just to piss you off dear reader... There are only 6 Fridays until Christmas, if we don’t count this one that is.
