Greetings universe.
Since I have gotten several comments for not posting anything in a while, which means there are actually people reading my scribbles.
So I don’t have anything to show at this time, since I noticed a glitch in the rig I’m working on, that started a whole domino effect of problems.
In theory, mechanical rigging is amazing but it is not forgiving at all, so many minor problems with organic rigs can be worked around by skinning.
That is not the case with mechanical rigs, since the joints can only move in a certain axis and with limits, and if something is slightly off the mesh breaks.
So now my problem now is getting the ik legs to act correctly with the center of gravity controller when it is rotated and moved around.
So more or less since last time I’ve just been troubleshooting everything and each solution just causes a new problem, but that is rigging for you.
It's just a bunch of tiny little puzzles you need to solve and I do love solving puzzles.
Since all the joints can only rotate on a single axis each except the universal joints, which is causing me so many problems.
The joint set up in the hierarchy is as following, 1st is rY, 2nd is rZ, 3rd is rZ, 4th is rZ and the 5th is rX rY rZ.
So getting these to work nicely together has been very problematic.
I did try setting rotation limits on the joints but that of course breaks the IKs so that is just not working.
And if I know myself at all, I am pretty much over-complicating everything as I tend to do so I am trying to take a step back and look at the basics at the moment so I can stop overthinking everything.
I need to figure out a way to get them to play nice and just work together, since they are not big on teamwork at the moment.
I know that I need to find a way to get all the rotations down to the ankle joint when the center of gravity is moved around but I am not quite sure yet how to manage that, since I tend to really over complicate things and overthink everything.
At this moment I am thinking maybe the solution might be in some pos_GRPs with aim constrains, I almost got it working but then yet again some other problem started acting up.

p.s. 'I will stop procrastinating, tomorrow.' is by far my new favourite phrase.
